Aardvark - Frequently asked questions

Q. "My marketing budget is limited, can I still get professional looking printed items?"

A. One of the first questions Aardvark will ask any client is "How much do you want to spend?". This allows us to tailor our proposal to your budget. For example, it is entirely possible to have a professional looking item, but printed on economical material with minimal design time, and in small quantities, when you need them.

Q. "Give me an example of cost and turnaround time e.g. 250 full colour business cards?"

A. Turnaround on reprints can literally be a couple of hours (assuming we have the stock). If we need to design something from a scratch, then a simple business card may take an hour or so in addition to the printing time.

Regarding cost (material prices can vary) 250 PREMIUM business cards printed full colour on 350gsm Silk board (including all proofing) can be as little as 31.55 euros (excluding setup).

(Comparative Vistaprint price for 250 Premium cards on 265gsm with only 1 proof is approximately 35.49 euros (converted from sterling price at a rate of 1.12)).

Q. Are quoted prices guaranteed?

A. Aardvark will endeavour to produce indicative prices either via email or telephone. For larger jobs the client will be asked to sign a quotation. Should cost elements change e.g. paper cost, design time, we will keep you informed. However, we reserve the right to make additional charges for unforeseen circumstances e.g. delivery.

Q. What if I have a print idea that isn't described on the site?

A. If you cannot find your print idea or product related items on our website, do not hesitate to get in touch and discuss the possibilities.

Q. How much does design cost?

A. General typesetting and layout is priced from 20 euros per hour. Creative design work starts at 28 euros per hour. If your design needs are simple, a great deal can be achieved with just one hour of design time. Please request samples of work that has been produced at a given cost for design.

Aardvark Print and Design - FAQs

Q. What is digital full colour printing?

A. Aardvark Print & Design uses the latest in full (or four) colour digital press technology to create your ideas in print. Recent advances in technology mean that the print quality rivals that of more traditional methods, such as lithographic printing presses. We print using the four colours CMYK, enabling us to recreate accurately the colour palettes that make up your designs.

Q. What is a "short run" and why is it relevant to you?

A. A short run would typically be up to around 1500 copies (depending upon the actual item). Beyond this and we fully acknowledge that more traditional methods become more competitive. However, the ability to have cost effective smaller quantities means you, the client, have to spend less to get your ideas into print. You can have your marketing materials in smaller batches, allowing you to make changes when you reprint, keeping the product right up to date, and react to demand. How often have long runs of leaflets (5,000 or 10,000) sat on the stock room shelf? Stock that a) costs you money and b) is going out of date as its sits there doing nothing for you!

Q. How is the product received/delivered?

A. All items will be appropriately packed. Delivery/collection is by arrangement with the client. Locally this can happen in person, further a field we are happy to use standard post or courier (additional charges may apply). Aardvark is trying where possible to act in an environmentally friendly manner, please do not be surprised if you product is packed using recycled materials. This is done to help protect the environment and keep costs down.

Q. What are the choices for folding my brochures?

A.All the following fold types are available.

Folding patterns

Q. What is a 'normal' turnaround time? And can I have my print item/s quicker?

A. We pride ourselves on offering a fast and efficient service. Lead times will vary depending upon the item being produced. We will discuss lead times with the client at time of ordering. Reprints and simple designs can be available in a matter of hours, schedule permitting. We always advise clients to order as early as possible to give us the best chance of meeting your deadlines. For a 'rush job', out of hours and weekend working, additional charges may apply.

Q. What is a proof?

A. A proof is an example for the client to check and approve prior to production. This can be supplied either electronically as a .PDF file or on paper. The latter may mean an additional cost and also a slight delay to production. Nothing will be produced without confirmation/approval from the client. PROOF READING AND CHECKING IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CLIENT. Whilst Aardvark makes every effort to check work as we design, we cannot be held responsible for textual errors post production, that were approved (proofed) by the client.

However, we can offer a facility to pay by bank card (credit/debit) online (please ask for details). For regular clients we are happy to discuss account arrangements (Month End settlement).
